I'd be surprised if he didn't re-sign. Seems as though Calgary can offer him $10.5-11 M which is more than fair. If it is only a family thing, he doesn't owe the Flames anything but IMO he could have told them as such. Something like "I loved it here and am appreciative of everything but I will test the market because I want to be close to family". Leaving them with the unknown is a little awkward IMO.
He has a house in the Jersey area and has a golf tournament there every year and is hosting it on July 29th. If I was him I'd much rather want to be a Devil than Flyer. Like I said though, I'd be surprised if he didn't re-sign.
