It sounds like they’ve spent the last two off-seasons looking to move him but didn’t find the correct value so the Flames kept him as they believed in the player. Mony was good value for sure as scoring is important, but his game never rounded out the way we needed it to - he’s never been good enough defensively.
The injuries that have sidelined him are an unfortunate turn, but there were definite issues with Mony’s game prior to the injuries (and I’m guess that’s why the team was rumoured to be talking trade in regards to him). I believe it was Boomer who had Monahan as being part of the return for Josh Anderson but CBJ chose Montreal’s offer.
