The reality is the "state of the world" is largely irrelevant to an individuals own inherent happiness. You can only control the actions that you take personally in the world and the way in which you react to situations that happen to you and you alone. We live in a world where you can go to the grocery store and buy fresh vegetables grown on the other side of the planet, have immediate access to the sum of human knowledge on a device you can carry in your pocket and most people posting in this thread have never known war personally in their home country

The world can be going to #### but you can still live a fulfilling happy life by focusing on yourself and making choices at every moment in your life that are true to your own values. That's all you can do. You can be empathetic to the conditions of others and make personal contributions to helping those around you, but not one of us can actually change anything about mass misinformation, starvation in Africa, war in ukraine or climate change other than choosing to research things with skepticism, donate to charities and choose a lower consumption lifestyle with a smaller carbon footprint

It really just is a matter of perspective and realizing what you can and cannot change, coming to terms with it and living your life in the moment as best you can
