In Kadri’s case I think he benefited from playing with elite players on a deep team. In a Flames uniform I don’t expect his production to be higher than a 55-60 pt guy for the next 3 years, and a drop to 40-45 in the following couple. That’s why if the Flames could get him on a totally unrealistic $5.5M x 5 years he would be a good fit. Anything more than that and he would have a hard time meeting expectations.

Not the same situation or the same age but Gaudreau just had an equivalent increase from his previous 2 years.
But yeah, here Kadri would have Mangiapane and Toffoli. Not two of Rantanen, Landeskog, Nishuskin, etc. or Makar supporting. Kadri was either filling in for Mackinnon and getting 1C minutes, or super sheltered as a C when Mackinnon was in.
