I know I keep harping on this but it really hinges on the role ownership plays in the GM's approach. I personally don't believe ownership gave BT the option to trade Johnny. They accepted the risk that they are now confronted with. But I can't imagine any of this happening without, at minimum, them signing off, and at worst, having direct influence.
