To get a high end C you need to draft them. The Flames had a chance to get a top pick in the draft and didn't.

If you’re talking about Shane Wright, three teams passed on him. Do we know the Flames would not have done the same? Evidently they didn’t think he, plus the other assets whatever they were, were worth Tkachuk.
Hard to say because we don’t know what the rest of the package was. But, based on what Chicago got for Debricat, it was probably another pick, or two. It was only a day ago, or so, people that it was going to be a package that included Mercer and/or Smith, Zacha, Bratt etc.
Bottom line, we don’t know what the offer was, or the extenuating circumstances, so why are we passing judgment?
