My least favorites are the ones where we overpay for aging vets in free agency, and ice a similar lineup that didn't cut it the year prior. So as long as we don't do that I'll be happy.
I think a retool/rebuild is likely, and combining kicking that off between this summer and next summer is actually good timing when looking at a lot of the contracts (and next year's draft).
If between this year and next we lose Gaudreau & Tkachuk, we're not easily filling those holes in the roster through free agency or trade. The free agents available are downgrades, and we lack the picks & prospects to land someone with a trade. So if they both leave the writing should be on the wall as far as what to do.
I guess whether that's an appealing offseason(s) to someone is up for debate, but at least it isn't boring!
