Will escapes the Upside Down only to get stuck in the Friend Zone
a high school freshman attempting to come out in the 80's would get absolutely brutalized, mentally/socially/physically. it's totally reasonable for him to be as afraid of revealing his true self as he is of fighting a demogorgon.
