Eating great food is a must whenever I travel, I refuse to waste money on a place for "OK" food. This past weekend I had "The Best Damn Crab Cioppino" in San Francisco, one of the highlights of the trip. The problem with the food discussion it that there is very few restaurants that I have not made better food and that is not my opinion, it is anyone that tries my dishes. My Smash Burgers are second to none, my Smoked Brisket and Prime Rib are perfect. I have never had better Ribeye than what I have made (in fact a Rib-eye and wine, just the meat and wine is now a meal at our house...why add a potato or other fillers - and that is my wife's idea). My wife says I have ruined dine-in/take-out Ramen for her because of my Pot Belly Ramen is the best she has ever tasted. She also never liked Pork Chops until I sous vibe and butter pan fried her a 1"cut so it was still juicy and tender. My in-laws always ask for my Grilled Salmon when they visit. So I am in total agreeance with you but like to take it a step further and make sure I am eating at a restaurant that serves great food not just a real restaurant.
