Ovechkin has sway in that country. He is in a leadership role if he likes it or not. If he speaks out, people listen. Maybe it’s the start of a peace movement, or maybe his family pays the price. Sophie Scholl spoke out and new EXACTLY what would happen if she did. Did it anyway.
He believes in Putin, and therein lies the problem.
