We're talking about a player who was detained, forcibly injected with an unknown substance, and then sent to the Arctic as punishment JUST for wanting to play in the NHL (not speaking against the motherland, not causing trouble, just wanting to play hockey in a different country) and there are posters who want another player to make a meaningless gesture against Russia because it's "the right thing."
That sort of attitude is more disgusting than anything Ovechkin is or isn't saying, honestly. He's a hockey player, not a politician. It doesn't save or help anyone, so you're just cheering for even more people to get hurt. Bizarre.
