For hotels, I will recommend somewhere central with multiple metro lines such as Placa d'Espanya or Placa de'Catalunya.

We had a good time visiting Sagarda Familia, Park Guell, and also the Picasso Museum.

For the guys, you may want to go to Nou Camp if time permits to see some FC Barcelona things.

For the ladies, who will say no to a trip to the La Roca Village outlet where you can get Gucci, Moncler, Balengiaca, etc. at like half the price? Plus you get your VAT refund at the airport. You do have to buy tickets for the shuttle bus in advance for the 45-minute trip, and it is 22 Euro per person. But it is well worth it.
