The seal is broken now and it's a clean slate. He will go where the money is and where he thinks he can contribute. I think it is also worth something to a player when they know a team really wants him, and if the Flames offer a contract, he might see that as meaningful.
Not saying we should sign him. The kind of contract he is going to get could backfire, but if money and cap were not a consideration, I do like the player. Unfortunately, the cap is a thing that needs to be considered.
