Don't put up with it just because it's familiar. You show people how to treat you by what you'll tolerate. If you are willing to walk away without a second thought because it's not on the terms you signed up for then you're signaling to people that your time and contributions are valuable and you'll either find something better or they will back track and be more accommodating to you in order to keep you there.
