When was the last time this team tore down its core and went full rebuild? Has it ever?
This franchise is notorious for signing mid tier UFA's and trying to extend windows beyond its reach (almost every season Iginla played after the 2004 cup run)
Its not a successful way to build a cup winning franchise, at least not in the modern day as we've seen with Tamp, Colorado etc. You need to fail, get lucky with top 3 draft spots and build/develop internally. This is why this offseason is insanely terrifying, we're in a bad spot going into the draft here.. and that's an understatement.

Maybe that was a bit flipent about Sutter. I just can't believe he would belive in the over priced UFA's and likely no stars to win.
I think if those 2 players are gone the management has already screwed him over and mislead him on the team.
