I think a lot of the team will be itching to leave if Johnny walks and Tkachuck is moved. Guys like Markstrom, Tanev,Backlund and then hanifin and Coleman ect will want a chance to win.
Your points above + the hire of Sutter and his verbal acknowledgment of wanting redemption for 2004 are the reason this team wont be "rebuilding" any time soon (next 2-3 years)

Even if Johnny/Tkachuk leave, the Flames will be forced to bring in more UFA's to try and push the window. Not that I agree with it at all, but its pretty clear they have no plan for a rebuild any time soon.

Goalie in his Prime
Core on value contracts currently
Lots of veteran depth

The only negative aspect is Johnny being a UFA now and Matthew an RFA with 9M qualifying offer and what's seemingly become a 'higher' chance we could lose one or both.

That's my only knock on Brad right now, we went into this season w/ Sutter at the helm and burned a bunch of picks to bring in depth scoring etc but had no real "plan" in place for Johnny and Matthew. Now we're effectively a week away from the draft and still 0 news on our 2 biggest question marks.

Scary stuff.
