They thought that it was, but no. Everything with the caveat that I'm not a historian.

The height of western political culture was WWII through to the civil rights movement. It was a time when government kept the welfare of the people at the forefront, and your entire political personality wasn't determined by your color of shirt. In America, the last 'real' President was Eisenhower. After that is was just increasing waves of corruption.

Were there issues. All over the place. The difference is that they were being discussed in parliament/congress and solved. It's difficult to see anything political done these days without a corporate or cultish driver.

Someone brought up the caps on insurance (which was good) and it lasted, what, two years? It was scrapped without consultation and with the province staring you in the eye telling you to get ####ed.

I'd take 70s, 80s, 90s over this. And politically the 80s sucked balls, Reaganomics and trickle-down was the genesis of the ####storm we're in now. But it's kind of adorable compared to Alberta being 94B in debt. What the hell? We are the third biggest oil producer in the world! How bad of a government do you have to be?

On the provincial level, Lougheed is the Alberta gold standard, and that was 70s, 80s.

That feels like a drunken rant, and I'm drinking tea.
