Spoilers for Herogasm
Spoiler!
A mic drop episode.
Herogasm itself was hilarious and disgusting (RIP M.M's jacket), but the emotional payoffs in that episode nailed the landings.
A-Train's redemption was heartbreaking and a great end to his story (if he is dead). His humanity coming through and taking responsibility to Hughie wasn't something I saw coming.
This episode even made Homelander sympathetic, as it ripped the last bit of his soul away. There's not much more you can say about Antony Starr, he's electrifying in every scene. From the pain of learning that BN left, to his Green Goblin scene, he carries this show on his surprisingly small shoulders.
The conflict between Hughie/Butcher and Annie/M.M is really well done. Having them at such diametrical odds is hard to watch as it's clear how much they mean to each other, especially Butcher and M.M. I can't see any world where Butcher makes the choices his comic book counterpart makes.
The fight between Butcher, Homelander, Hughie and Solider Boy was incredible. Watching Butcher going toe-to-toe with Homelander was a powerful moment for the character. Karl Urban was terrifying in that scene.
The fallout from Starlight's livestream is going to crush the status quo, and this had the vibes of a finale, not the 3rd last episode of the season.
Herogasm definitely subverted expectations and may be the best episode of the series so far.
