Its an interesting question, what would have happened if Kenobi would have killed Vader, what would have the outcome been after that.

Its likely that Obi-Wan would have followed his path that he lived. Would Sidious have been able to find a new apprentice. He wouldn't have trusted Maul not to betray him. He probably would have looked at the Grand Inquistor and taken an interest in training him.

The events of A new hope would have probably still continued, with Kenobi still needing to sacrifice himself to help our hero's escape from the Death Star.

Lets be honest, by the time that Vader and Luke entered the end point of their fight on Bespin, Vader had changed. That spark of Anakin had seen his son and I think he didn't have the desire to kill him. However if Sidious had found a new apprentice with no attachments to Luke, and with Luke not being completely trained. Sidious' apprentice wouldn't have hesitated, or tried to convince Luke to join him. The Apprentice wouldn't have hesitated to kill Luke off.

Even then, we have to remember that Anakin was at the center of the Force Prophesy, that he would bring balance to the Force. With Vader's death by Obi-Wan that dosen't automatically mean that the balance of the Force would have shifted to the Light side. Its more then likely that the Force would have remained in darkness until the Force created another prohesized chosen one.

Even then, lets say that Luke had survived his encounter with Sidious' new apprentice. Lets say that Luke was bought before Sidious on the New Death Star, would Sidious have tried the same seduction attempt on Luke? Would the Sith Apprentice have no conflict and couldn't see him betraying his master.

The fear is that killing a Hitler would more then likely not had an effect of preventing WW2, that was was inevitable. Would killing Vader have saved millions of lives, no probably not, and Vader's death in the grand scheme of things lead to Sidious winning at the end of the day and eternal darkness.
