Any realistic Calgary 8 year offer is incredibly hard to beat from a pure cash perspective. So if JG opts for UFA and goes east, I’m certain there’s not much that could have been done. Agreed. The whole "wanting to go home" thing is weird because it is only associated with certain players. Every player born in North America has a home state or childhood favourite team. It wasn't a narrative until LeBron did it. Then there was Stamkos stuff and it didn't happen. Tavares did it but really, how many players leave their team because they want to play for their hometown team?
