I wonder how the cases went after the government kidnapped the jury?
Would a normal person doubt that the accused might not have been given fair process? I would. Considering I was just kidnapped.

They didn't force people to serve on a jury, they made them appear for jury
selection. And it happened on Thursday, not on the weekend; court doesn't even sit on the weekends.
This particular proviso of the
Criminal Code has been in there forever. It has existed in English common law for centuries. It's rarely used, and wouldn't have to have been used if more people showed up for selection in the first place.
You know what's not a fair trial? A jury trial with only half the number of requisite jurors. It's precisely why "ordering a tales" exists in the first place.
