I also think Vader in the OT is probably out of practice compared to Vader here. The hunting is mostly done so instead of ripping ships from the sky he will be force-choking mid-level functionaries who forgot the cover letter on their TPS reports. Obi-wan showed how you can lose attunement over time if you don't use it. Even Yoda had trouble lifting the X-wing out of the swamp, so I would assume Vader in Empire would have been out of practice (compared to this Vader) and maybe not prepared to seize the Falcon.

Probably not as much out of practice but that he's older. he's 41 by the time of the Battle of Yavin, and he's been living in a badly damaged body. That takes a toll as well.

I mean in ANH if he had those powers like in Kenobi the fight with a 57 year old Ben Kenobi would have been over and Vader would have crushed him into a basketball sized ball and slammed dunked his corpse through the hoop in the Death Star executive bridge.

Even when you look at his ability to throw objects, or even his force choke wasn't that impressive.

Even in Rebels while he was still awesome, it wasn't on the level of this.
