I looked at it as a fatigue issue. Using that much of the force is draining on someone. Sideous' big fights left him weak and tired after them, Yoda in Empire needed to focus just to get the X-wing out of the swamp.

Vader was in full power mode ripping everything apart, and probably needed to catch his breath before being able to harness enough power to grab ship #2. Dealing with Reva was a minor annoyance in comparison to pulling a freighter back to the ground so I don't think it played a huge role.

I also think Vader in the OT is probably out of practice compared to Vader here. The hunting is mostly done so instead of ripping ships from the sky he will be force-choking mid-level functionaries who forgot the cover letter on their TPS reports. Obi-wan showed how you can lose attunement over time if you don't use it. Even Yoda had trouble lifting the X-wing out of the swamp, so I would assume Vader in Empire would have been out of practice (compared to this Vader) and maybe not prepared to seize the Falcon.
