After watching a little of the inconsistency this year, I'm not entirely convinced they should be going all in this year. There needs to be a little bit more plate discipline from the team to be a playoff contender. Having said that, I don't think our friend Biggio will amount to his potential. His confidence is zero. I do believe Pearson when back can be a rotation guy or the very least bullpen, so it gives me hope the pitching situation is sorted out. When it comes to catching, it's super interesting as there is a role for everyone, there are holes by all three:
- Kirk - great hitting, mediocre defence, slow runner. Best suited for DH/C combo
- Jansen - turning to a very good hitter, decent defence, can't stay healthy, still a prime age
- Moreno - high upside in getting on base like Bichette, good defence, but still inexperienced

What does it all mean? You can have your cake and eat it too only if you keep all three guys and use all three in different situations. Moreno is the future but you can't rush him, so to me, this season I don't trade any. I play Kirk/Moreno at C, and the odd day Kirk at DH. When Jansen comes back Kirk rolls to DH, and Jansen and Moreno split time. But if Jansen feels slighted this year, perhaps this year Moreno gets kept in the minors and next year there's more of a 50/50 split between Moreno/Jansen.

The only two players who probably don't have any role are Tapia and Biggio. So dealing them to get solid hitters is probably required. Biggio could probably get a vet on a last year, and we'd be selling low. Tapia I've seen enough to just say cut ties. He's in the same ilk as Grichuk. I just don't like them as they're good for nothing. Part of being a pro athlete is consistency, and not one off games. Tapia is consistently bad where I don't see an ounce of upside.
