If the 2nd overall pick is available with potentially a solid D-man, and you are convinced a prospect is a sure fire top line player, you really have to consider in my opinion. We would also be saving the 10 million Tkachuk is going to command.
Not saying you do it, i'm not sure at this point, but I'm really not convinced of Tkachuk being a 10 million dollar player considering how often he comes up short in the playoffs. The league is getting faster and faster, especially come playoff time and he doesn't seem to be taking the necessary steps skating wise to close the gap on that big weakness.
Tough call for sure.
