Trading Tkachuk straight up for a 2nd overall in what looks like a pretty mediocre draft is waaaay to risky.
Imagine trading your 100+ shift disturbing, prime aged winger for a future Sam Bennett, Michael Dal Colle, Dylan Strome, Jonathan Drouin etc...
Not a high enough percentage of top picks ever become as good as Tkachuk is for the Flames to take gamble like that.
It's a moot point anyways. If the player projected to be taken 2nd overall was good enough, or sure enough of a thing to be traded for Tkachuk there is no way the team holding that pick would entertain the trade to begin with. They'd just take the player IMO
