I wish these gun people would just admit they just love guns. You ain't defending yourself in a 1300 sq ft bungalow with a ####ing AR-15, get real. MAYBE an argument could be made for a hand gun for home defense, but if you handgun is that accessible during a very unexpected attack, then you are an irresponsible gun owner. What's more, if you did retrieve your gun that fast, unless you are regularly training with weapons in high pressure situations, you are more of a danger to yourself and family than you are helpful. Finally ask yourself this, would you be OK murdering someone because they stole your $1200 TV?

I would think the threat of being shot would scare off a robber, you could pull out a pellet gun and chances are they'd flea. You could also shoot your handgun in the air, or blast them in the shin. The thing is when you have the gun you now have the power, it doesn't have to end with killing anyone.
