I think we are getting into technicalities here.

Gaudreau via his agent or whatever other means, basically know who else is interested and what they can and will pay. Maybe those numbers have moved a bit in the last months or weeks, and I am sure the Flames are right up there, but point is, some team isn’t coming out of the woodwork,that hasn’t been there for a while.

Of course no team, player agent or anyone else will say that these negotiations or offers exist for fear of league discipline.

Gaudreau basically just (as he has the last 18 months or more) has to figure out if he wants to play here for the next x number of year or somewhere else. That depends on the chances of winning it all here, team goals now, in 3 years, in 6 years, who he will be playing with as far as teammates, where he wants to have kids grow up, where his wife wants to live etc etc, because the money to set him up for the rest of his and his grand childrens lives, will be there wherever he picks…and again the options are well known weeks or months ago…any courting period or technical timing issues is for show only.
