Then there wouldn't be Star Wars.
It would've been a one and done quirky space fantasy knock off of Flash Gordon that premiered in 1977 and hard copies of which would only exist in George Lucas' attic somewhere.
For better or worse...... this impossible to please fanbase is what runs the show.
