That's the change that I saw ... less forecheck, less two men deep. Was that a coaching call to avoid getting dusted in the counter attack? Or did the players start cheating to avoid getting caught? I'd have to know the answer to say who did what.

That's what I saw too. Thought they didn't pay close enough attention to details on some of the breakaways in game 1/2 where the puck slipped past D or poor decision making with shots that missed the net, rimmed around the boards and then a cherrypicking Oiler was off the the races.
That got the Flames off the high pressure forechecking game they'd been playing all season.
