Hard pass from me - as much as I love Gaudreau. The back half of that deal is likely to kill the Flames' chances of both trading the player or building a good team around him.
Without regard for contract structure compliance (since I'm too lazy to look it up), I'd prefer to see something that rewards Johnny in years 1 and 2, and then declines thereafter to reflect his age and likely declining performance. Something like 11-11-10-10-9-8-7-7. I still see that as a rich contract for what Johnny brings and the fact he'll be in his thirties for basically the duration.
