It also takes away the gravitas of :
"I’ve been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner. Now I am the master."
It's clear in the 70s George intended to have this more like a ronin leaving his samurai master but by the end of this series it will be nothing but Vader leaving Obi Wan half-dead and clearly proving his mastery over him 10 years before ANH ever happened.
