The offseason gets really tough if Johnny decides to leave. Treliving has a lot of work to do but he is coming off his most successful season as a GM where his team won the division and won a round of the playoffs. He is firmly in his role and there isn’t as big of an outcry to fire him or make sweeping changes to the core. His job is now keeping the key players which is not easy but if they want to stay then that is half the battle.
If Johnny leaves his job becomes really tough. Does he pay Tkachuk $11M per without Johnny? What will he offer the likes of Kadri or Forsberg to try and replace Johnny?
Getting the top 2 players re-signed is a lot of work but it seems like there is interest on both sides. Considering no one is calling for sweeping changes I think this is a tough offseason but not the worst
