They are still on the hook for the signing bonus, the buyout is based on his salary, and that savings is subtracted from the original cap hit.
According to the capfriendly buyout calculator, his cap hit would only drop to 4.66 M for Calgary.
Add a league min cap hit and it is higher than it would be if left alone
