No, they weren't over-rated, they just didn't paly their best, had a couple key injuries, and didn't get good goaltending, against the Oilers.
Changing the narrative, in hindsight, is pointless and wrong.

It’s not pointless at all.
You ultimately want to know why you lost so you can fix those problems.
If the Flames badly outplayed the Oilers and we got goalie’d, that’s one thing. But the Flames’ 50 win team were soundly outplayed by their provincial rival, even at 5 on 5 after being considered overwhelming favorites.
The series ended up being not all that dissimilar to the 18-19 season/Colorado series. Throw in the ridiculously close series vs Dallas who barely snuck into the playoffs and yeah, I’d say there’s some important conversations that should be had. Looking the other way and saying everything will be fine is just insanity and this fanbase has seen some insanity over the decades.
