The fact is, you may be of the opinion that teams circumvent the cap all the time, but the league feels differently. Injuries actually do occur.

First, they shouldn't pay the guy $4 million in one year lol. Spread it out over multiple years. The guy gets a guaranteed job in hockey, after hockey, and there wouldn't be a thing the league could do about it.
I didn't say the Flames were going to do it, I said they should do it.

Sharks got rid of Kane's contract on trumped up charges that were never substantiated and used that money to extend a key core player.
Flames should be playing dirty too.
If Lucic wants to retire, but still wants his money, the more realistic scenario that will happen is he goes on LTIR though.
