^^ I don't disagree with any of the above, making it extremely difficult to purchase any type of gun is a no brainer. Background checks, waiting periods, some type of graduated ownership program where you start with a long arm .22 and can be gradually "moved up the scale" to be able to purchase "something better" (so you can't go buy an AR on your 18th birthday), mandatory training courses etc.... None of these would go against any second amendment rights.
I believe the biggest problem are the estimated (close to) 400,000,000 guns already in circulation, how is this problem solved? Would a buy back program get a 1/4 of them off the street? If so that would still leave 300,000,000 guns in the hands of the public.
