Certainly not shocking his newlywed wife would move up here to live with him. It's been known to happen. Lots of players buy homes, then sell them.
The fact that you acknowledge that he may have waited due to him wanting more money is telling. It indicates that he and Trev were likely quite a bit apart on what the value of his contract would be. That would seem to indicate more than a 1% chance (at best) of leaving.
