I think Johnny just guessed wrong as to where Draisaitl (who was being checked by Hanifin) would move the puck. He guessed point and moved that direction. Of course, maybe if he sees McDavid he knows that's always where Draisaitl will pass.
Hard to blame Markstrom on a quick pass to the best offensive talent in the game right in the slot. I have no clue what Hanifin was doing there.
