However, when your favorite team isn't playing it gives you something specific to cheer for (Just like fantasy) I've actually never understood how people watch sports and "don't care who wins" - But that's just me. If I have $20 on the game it gives me a team to cheer for which itself make sports more enjoyable - If you dont care about the outcome why watch?

Love or appreciation of the game. Something most fans grow up with long before winning or, worse, betting on winners becomes all they care about. Amazingly, many people enjoy sports for the sport itself.
It's fine if people have fun betting. That doesn't make it any less a very stupid way to spend your money and the constant ads for it any less annoying.
