This BOA though....not sure what it is. It's game day today and I'm not overly excited or nervous or anything. I've kind of forgot the game was even being played a few times to be honest. Again, not sure what it is. Maybe it's the ongoing endless Draft King stuff, the endless McDavid talk (yes it is warranted for the most part but it's still over the top), the really inconsistent reffing, and a parade to the penalty box so it seems to kill any flow to the games.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm still waiting for this series to really get exciting for a full game, or even an extended time. If there's a zillion more penalties and PPs tonight mixed in with 4-on-4 play I'm guessing my interest in this series will wane even more. Hoping for a fun game to watch tonight.

I have had issues with some of this as well, but it has been the media portrayal of the playoffs more so than the games. Now, I enjoy them more on mute and without SNet's input. The talking heads have really ruined the experience for me. The betting I just find very off-putting, so the mute helps.
I see this playoffs as an important thing for this franchise for a few reasons. First, it was to get over the hump in terms of the first round - that was important and accomplished. I also see it as important now for the franchise to sort out how they want to play against McDavid, who has owned the Flames for years now. This year the Flames have shown the ability to play against him tough and were mostly rewarded. As Sutter likes to say, they have a structure of how to play against the Oilers now, which is encouraging for now and the future.
This year was mostly a pleasant surprise to me. I expected them to be better but not so much better. I'm excited by a number of the new prospects on the farm this year and some from players that I didn't know until this year like Ruzicka. Now with a better structure and team game to work with the better drafting and prospect development, I do think that the team is starting to make good strides. Obviously, they have some big contracts for the off season but I'm growing more hopeful for this franchise than I have been in a long time.
To the more immediate, last game had 35 minutes of 5 on 5 time compared to 49 in game one, and the Flames were right there and could have won that game. That was a close to a penalty filled game as we will see and it was right there. Yet, the talking from even the Calgary media (at least when they are interviewing Darryl of what I read in the Athletic) suggest that they are going to lose the series the way it is going.
