He can be defended better, nevertheless.
I don't think leaning on him and keeping yourself between him and the net if he isn't breaking in with speed should be as hard as they're making it look. Simply not enough effort or focus being put on him.
Hanifin did it in the second after they were burned on that break-in goal. Leaned on him for a full shift and eventually the puck ended up back out of the zone with no chances generated. He proved to himself right there that it can be defended.
