People who owe massive amounts of money to casinos have gambling addictions. His loses aren't a one time #### up type of thing, they are evidence of a pattern of poor choices, like those of an addiction.
Also the article in which he stated he had a gambling addiction/problem sort of confirms that.

Is this different than Alex Burrows making a drinking gesture towards Shane O'Brien? Part of me thinks that it isn't that much different, except how society views different addictions. Plus Kane has repeatedly messed up, and is a pretty unlikable person.
