I know we've been through this a lot, but I still don't believe that Fox added much value to the deal at the time. I think everyone knew that he was never going to sign a contract with the Flames and Carolina likely knew it was a crap shoot for them at best. It kind of like teams trading for UFA rights. In my opinion, Fox was probably equal value to a mid-round pick to Carolina due to his desire to only sign in one place and he was basically a lotto ticket. His value to the Flames was probably zilch at the time.
