Regarding the Lucic hit - 'maybe a bit late'? Not at all. The clips are in slow motion and even then it wasn't late. Lucic begins his hit while the puck is on McDavid's stick.
The only reason it looks at all late (other than the slo-mo) is that McDavid pulls away from Lucic, which kind of extends the length of time that Lucic is approaching him.
Completely clean hit. The penalty was because he was the only guy that dropped their mitts. And it was a time in the game where the refs were calling the next one on the Flames.
