Lets get to Markstrom early. As good as he's been this year, he's a very up and down goalie prone to letting in quite a few weak goals.

Set the tone early and come at them in waves with our skill. If we play the way we did in games 6 and 7 against LA, Calgary can't bother us.

FWIW, LA had 75 high danger chances vs the Oilers in round 1; Calgary had 83 vs Dallas.
Not quite sure the Flames are the offensive juggernaut that poster thinks they are - they are no Colorado.

That said, they are miles better than LA offensively so this will not be a picnic. Smith needs to stay at .920 sv % minimum.

F*** the Flames!

The Oilers forwards need to skate around their ogres on defense (Zadorov, Gudbranson), who will be looking to injure our stars. Especially since the league gave them a free pass to do so after the Glendening hit

This has all the makings of an upset. I admit I'm pretty surprised at how unanimous the pundits have been in predicting a Calgary victory, and I don't get it--I think I saw more people predicting a Nashville upset than there are people predicting an Oilers victory.

Calgary won only 1 more regular season game. The season series was tied at 2-2. Both team struggled in their first round--Edmonton looked disoriented at times while Calgary looked slow and stupid. Calgary's top producers were not even in the same universe as McDavid in round 1, who seems to have found a game-changing new gear. And Calgary can't transition the puck from their D to save their lives.

They will live and die on goaltending this series; to me, that's all they have that can be said to be clearly better (even though Smith has better numbers).

I'm not saying the Oilers shouldn't be the underdogs, but I don't think anyone should be surprised if they come out and beat the absolute #### out the Flames, let alone win the series.

I'm giving Calgary zero credit. Are you even reading? That franchise could disappear and it would improve the NHL.

Throughout NHL history in these "BOA" matchups the Oilers have been the supremely talented club and the Flames have been the team trying to make hockey stop, and play something else. Whether it be 80's 90's or now. Flames are dirtbags always. Despicable franchise.

I'm also hoping in game 1 that the boys will make a mockery of the fake tough guys Andersson and Backlund. Two pathetic rats. Absolutely despicable losers. At least Tkachuk will throw hands and play tough. I respect Tkachuk as a player honestly. The other two are the biggest frauds in the league. Hope one of our guys tunes them up.

the only team that can beat the oilers in this series is themselves. we are giving the flames too much credit for a team that had one more win than us. we have scored 5 on them in 3/4 games we have played them. i dont have stats but i guess thats more than any other team has this year vs the flames. Get after them with speed and limit their odd man rushes and please dont let in weak goals. win game 1 their fake tough persona will come out. PPs favor us significantly.

Anderson is my most hated Flame.

He's right up there with Tkachuk. Then again, at least Tkachuk fights. Hope Kane pancakes Ratmus on the fore check once or twice in this series.
