Alright, I got a bee in my bonnet about this. I decided to compare the Oilers to the Flames in offence since the lockout.

(Asterisks indicate shortened seasons due to COVID or lockout)

Some notes:

Since the lockout, the Flames have averaged 225 GF/yr with an average league rank of 15.8. The Oilers average 218 GF/yr, with an average league rank of 17.9.
Since the lockout, the Flames have scored 116 more goals than the Oilers.
Since the lockout, the Flames have a total goal differential of +85.
Since the lockout, the Oilers have a total goal differential of -415.
In the seven years of the "McDavid era", the Oilers have a total goal differential of -3.
