It's just annoying. It's like the media has never forgot the Oilers' offence of the 80s despite all of the intervening facts and events.
I recall somewhere in the 06-10 period that the Flames were actually offensively excellent, the Oilers were completely inept, and the media were still spinning the matchup as the defensive stalwart Flames versus the firewagon Oilers. Look at the stats, guys, that's your JOB ffs. (Edit: probably 2010-11, where the Flames were 5th in the league in GF and the high octane Oilers were ... 28th.)
This season the Oilers were 7th in offense, behind such luminary offensive teams like the Minnesota Wild, St. Louis Blues and your offensively inept Calgary Flames. 7th isn't bad or anything but the media is still talking this up like we're trying to figure out answers to the '84 Oilers.
