Gio’s speed is already a problem for him. His mobility has already faded, his turns and pivots are definitely weaknesses. But like Chara, he takes really good care of his body and always stays as fit as possible.
But when you think the game at Gio’s level and you never take a shift off, you’re gonna get work. His timing today is still picture perfect: Great stick checks, well timed blocks, knows when to use the body, can take a hit to make a play, smart pinches, strong at the blueline, the poise, the willingness to sacrifice. The list goes on and on.
Heck, I thought he was the best skater on the ice in the couple games he played us. That doesn’t sound like a guy whose game is ready to fall off a cliff.
