A literal climax can be anti-climactic by being less exciting or awesome than hoped for. In fact, mostly people would not use the term 'anti-climactic' to describe anything other than the resolution to a situation.

An anticlimactic ending would be an own-goal or a Mike Smith brain fart…..something that is completely out of character with the rest of the game. A great shot into the smallest opening on the worst angle after a dangerous first shot is completely in keeping with the game. It took a perfect shot to win it. Scored by the best player who had been robbed several times already. There is no anti- there. None.
